Mental health means very different things to different people. It is a very individual thing - from gender to neurodivergence to simply different personalities, this affects how we evaluate our wellbeing and what we each need to support us. This can be in terms of self-care or getting external support. This panel is all about discussion the wide variety of mental health issues, but also how we all respond so differently and have different requirements

PANEL SESSION 2: Mental Health & Medicine

Our previous conferences focused a lot on talking therapies and other self-care practices, however, we have not talked in depth about times when perhaps taking medication (traditional and/or complementary). We will look at what is required and the considerations, timelines and ethics of it.

Since then, the practice has gone from strength to strength with a team of fifteen therapists with a wide variety of specialisms and approaches.

Sharon is currently studying for a Masters in Counselling and Psychotherapy practice, in addition to her FdSC in Counselling and EFT Advanced Practitioner training.

She has a BSc (Hons) degree in Phytotherapy (which literally means plant therapy), from the College of Phytotherapy (this translates from the Greek word phytón meaning plant and therapeia meaning healing, so plant healing), accredited through the University of Wales. She is also a member of the National Institute of Medical Herbalists (www.nimh.org.uk).

She has experience of treating a broad range of illnesses, with a particular understanding of the frustration of managing long-term conditions and chronic.

With over 30 years of corporate experience and a deeply personal connection to mental health, Karen now works with individuals and businesses to address the emotional root causes of stress, anxiety, grief, trauma, and more — including the often-overlooked emotional toll of menopause.

Miranda is a local GP. After attending Cambridge and Oxford medical schools she completed her GP training in north London, and since then have worked at a variety of practices around London and for the past 10 years, the Newbury area. She loves being a GP because no two days are ever the same, and fundamentally she likes talking to people. A lot of her day to day work as a GP involves supporting people with a variety of mental illness and symptoms, both in terms of medication prescribing and support and also supporting physical health and wellbeing. She’s a big believer in how physical and mental health are inextricably linked and how promoting one is crucial for the other and vice versa. As well as being a GP, Miranda’s also a mum to three kids and loves hanging out with her family and friends and travelling the world.

PANEL SESSION 3: Mental Health, Movement & Self-Care Practice

In our final panel of the day, we will explore the role of mental health and movement. We will look at and beyond traditional exercise. We will also discuss what self-care might look like, in terms of movement and physical activity.

Adrian has been a personal, career, and business Coach and Mentor since 2020, in parallel to his role as an IT Security Professional.

He obtained his coaching certification from the Institute of Continuing Education at the University of Cambridge in 2021, and opened Hammill Consulting his Coaching Practice the same year. He is a member of the EMCC and Association of Coaching.

Through coaching others, Adrian has developed a deep interest in the challenges faced with mental health and neurodiversity and has focused his coaching development in these areas, qualifying as a Mental Health First Aider.
